Mahmood on the outcome of India vs Pakistan: India has an excellent World Cup record against Pakistan and has not lost a single game. But former Pakistan fast bowler Azhar Mahmood doesn’t think he can’t change this time.
People are so eagerly waiting for the mother of all battles to resume. In recent years, India versus Pakistan has been a rarity with issues resulting in the severing of bilateral cricket ties between the two countries.
India and Pakistan only face each other at ICC events and with the start of the T20 World Cup.
Although Mahmood, who played India at the 1999 World Cup in England, admits that India has a better team and is in much better shape at the moment, Pakistan can claim its first World Cup victory against India.
“The match is expected to be tough because our players perform well in T20 format but the way India are playing themselves and the kind of team they have, definitely India will have the edge, but on the day, if our players click, I am sure we can beat them,” Mahmood told Cricket Pakistan.
All eyes are on the resumption of what was once the greatest rivalry in cricket.
Ending such a streak of dominance would require a special effort from Pakistan that Mahmood does not admit. It is easy. However, you never know if the outcome of the 2017 Champions Trophy and how things will turn out will be anything.
“We played India twice at the Champions Trophy 2017. We lost the round game but beat them in the final. After that, we played them at the 2019 World Cup. Throughout World Cups, we haven’t had a good record against them. Even when we played, Pakistan did not have a great record against India at World Cups,” the former quick added.
