Imran Khan, the infamous former captain of Pakistan who notably guided his team to the ODI World Cup victory in 1992, has a message for Babar Azam and company before the summit match.

Amazing parallels have been drawn between Pakistan’s current campaign and their performance in the 1992 ODI World Cup during their T20 World Cup run-in. The whole of Pakistan is hopeful that Babar can accomplish what Imran achieved.

The legendary leader Imran has now delivered a crucial message to Babar’s soldiers.

“My msg to Pak cricket team today is the same I gave our team in the 1992 World Cup Final. First: enjoy the day as one rarely gets to play in a World Cup final & don’t get overawed by it. Second: you will win if you are willing to take risks & can cash in on mistakes by opponents. That means playing with an attacking mindset. Good luck; the whole nation is praying for your success.”

Prior to the game’s beginning on Sunday, Imran stated in a tweet:

Even the current Pakistani captain was questioned about replicating the success of the 1992 campaign. After having a rough start, Babar claimed that making it to the final was a dream come true for him.

“Yes. I believe we couldn’t start off well but we came back with great momentum. In the previous 3-4 matches, Pakistani team has played very well on both individual and team level.  We’ve been working really hard for this. It feels like a dream come true to reach the final,”

Pakistan has won the T20 World Cup championship once before. On Sunday in Melbourne, they would try to repeat the accomplishment.
