During the just finished ODI series against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury while attempting a catch. He was injure while fielding in the first innings of the second ODI and brought to the hospital for scans. Things became worse for the Indian opener as he batted despite his discomfort.

He was ruled out of the series’ third and final ODI, as well as the Test series opener in Chattogram. Following India’s victory in the first Test, word came from the Indian camp that the management was unwilling to risk the skipper’s thumb, which is still stiff and hasn’t fully recovered. The management believes Rohit is ready to bat in the second Test, although he risks aggravating his injury while fielding.
