I believe Travis Head will get some opportunities now that Aaron Finch is retiring from ODIs: Andrew McDonald

I believe Travis Head will get some opportunities now that Aaron Finch is retiring from ODIs: Andrew McDonald. Early in the year, in September, Aaron Finch made his ODI retirement announcement.

Former Australia captain Aaron Finch abruptly announced his retirement from ODI cricket in early September. After a string of disappointing showings in the 50-over format. The decision might be view as startling given the influence Finch can have higher in the order and in particular. Given the fact that no one is certain to assume his starting position. But as things are, Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald already has a replacement in mind for Finch.

The current T20 World Cup has been abandoned by Australia, and all attention is now focused on the upcoming ODI World Cup in India, which is set to begin in late 2023. The Kangaroos will first play England in a three-match series in the lead-up to the major tournament, with new skipper Pat Cummins in charge. Travis Head, 28, will be given more opportunity to replace Finch, according to McDonald.

“I think Travis Head will get some opportunities with the retirement of Aaron Finch. We’re excited to see what he can do in one-day cricket. We saw how he went in Pakistan against a world-class attack, he was able to take them on and his one-day domestic record is second to none. He’s got big hundreds, and double hundreds,”

In the upcoming days, I believe a very potent team will be announced: McDonald on England series

The Kangaroos will now be able to receive enough rest before preparing for the England series. Thanks to Australia’s early departure from the T20 World Cup. McDonald stated that the squad may have rested certain players had the Australians advanced to the tournament’s next stage, but since that is not the case, they would field a very strong lineup against the Three Lions.

“I think any time you get to play, it’s with as full-strength squad as you can. We saw that with the NZ series up north earlier, we were really keen to see what it would look like with as close to full strength as possible. We’ve got a little bit of a gap now because we’ve obviously exited (the World Cup) early so that allows us to play players that potentially – if we had have gone deep into this tournament – we wouldn’t have. So I think you’ll see a very strong side named in the coming days,”

The former cricket player added at the press conference.
