It’s just another one of those things: Finch, Aaron

Green had some noteworthy batting performances during the recent three-match T20I series against India. With explosive batsman David Warner sidelined for the series, the 23-year-old was tasked with opening the innings for Australia and produced quick starts.

“I don’t think so. It’s just one of those things. He had a really good tour of India. It was good for him to get an opportunity to open the batting so he’ll get more opportunities.”

Said Finch while speaking to ESPNcricinfo.

“I think he’ll get an opportunity at some point in this series. Obviously, his batting is exceptional and he shows a lot with the ball. He keeps improving every time he gets an opportunity but over the next few weeks, he’ll get a run no doubt.”

Finch added.

The young all-rounder seized the opportunity with both hands, scoring two half-centuries at an impressive strike rate of 214.55. In the series opener, he hit 61 runs in 30 balls as Australia successfully chased down a massive 209.

In the two-match T20I series against the West Indies beginning on Wednesday, October 5, it would be interesting to see if Green can convince the selectors to change their minds by putting up consistent performances (if given the chance).

After the West Indies series is over, Australia will host England for three Twenty20 Internationals on October 9, 12, and 14.
