The former Indian opener also questioned the selection of Rishabh Pant over Dinesh Karthik, claiming it would have been better to go with the veteran wicketkeeper-batter who was in form. Karthik and Axar Patel, he believes, would have provided a better balance to the team.
“My question is whether the team would still bench DK and play Rishabh Pant if Ravindra Jadeja was not out. I believe we blew it by not playing the in-form Dinesh Karthik and instead going with Pant solely for the sake of playing a left-handed batter. I would have chosen Axar Patel and Dinesh Karthik for the team “Jaffer continued.
