A 17-year-old girl accuses Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane of rape. The news was confirmed by AIG Rabindra Singh Dhanuk of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office.
Sandeep Lamichhane of Nepal has found himself in hot water. A 17-year-old minor has filed a rape complaint against him. The police have also confirmed the development, stating that the complaint against the said cricketer has been received by the District Police Range Kathmandu.
According to the girl’s complaint, Sandeep raped her on August 21 at a hotel in Kathmandu. She also claims that she learned about the Nepal skipper from a friend and that she traveled to Nagarkot with Lamichhane on August 17.
On August 22, Sandeep Lamichhane left for Kenya to lead his team in a five-match T20I series against the Kenyans. Nepal won the series 3-2, and the 22-year-old then traveled to the West Indies to compete in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The girl was placed under police protection and had a health checkup.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old girl is under police protection after filing the complaint and has undergone the necessary medical examination. AIG Rabindra Singh Dhanuk of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office confirmed the news to Nepal’s digital newspaper Setopati.
“Sandeep Lamichhane is the subject of a rape complaint. It is a minor’s complaint, and I will provide more information about it tomorrow. This evening has also seen the victim’s health checkup “Dhanuk stated. Several other police officers at Kathmandu Police Range, Kathmandu Valley Police, and Nepal Police Headquarters have also confirmed the development.
The Nepal Cricket Association has yet to take action against their captain, Sandeep Lamichhane. It will also interesting to see if the cricketer is summoned to report to the police station in the middle of his stint in the CPL. He is yet to provide any statement on the allegations made as well. As for Sandeep, he hasn’t got a chance in two matches Jamaica Tallawahs, his CPL team, has played so far.
