“Arshdeep Is Gold”: Former India Spinner Supports Young Seamer Following Dropped Catch Against Pakistan

“Arshdeep Is Gold”: Former India Spinner Supports Young Seamer Following Dropped Catch Against Pakistan. Arshdeep Singh dropped a simple catch in the 18th over of Pakistan’s chase, but Harbhajan Singh has come out in support of the young Indian seamer.

The India-Pakistan Super 4 match in the ongoing Asia Cup on Sunday lived up to the hype, with both sides playing out a thriller, and in the end, it was Babar Azam’s side that prevailed by five wickets. Now, India must win their remaining matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan if they want to make the final. The biggest talking point of the game, however, came in the 18th over of the innings, when young seamer Arshdeep Singh dropped a relatively easy chance off the bowling of Ravi Bishnoi, giving Asif Ali a life.

Arshdeep then came on to bowl the final over, but he was unable to defend seven runs, and Pakistan eventually won. Former India spinner has now come to Arshdeep’s aid, claiming that no one drops catches on purpose and that the young seamer should not be chastised.

Harbhajan Singh Following Dropped Catch Against Pakistan: “Arshdeep Is Gold”

“Stop criticising young @arshdeepsinghh. No one drop the catch purposely..we are proud of our 🇮🇳 boys .. Pakistan played better.. shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform bout arsh and team.. Arsh is GOLD,” Harbhajan tweeted.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also expressed his support for Arshdeep on Twitter.

At the post-match press conference, India batter Virat Kohli expressed his support for Arshdeep, saying, “Anyone can make a mistake, the situation was tight.” It was a high-pressure game, and mistakes were inevitable. I recall playing my first Champions Trophy match against Pakistan, and I made a terrible shot against Shahid Afridi. I couldn’t sleep because I was staring at the ceiling until 5 a.m., and I thought my career was over, but these things are natural. Seniors surround you, and there is a good team environment right now, which I credit to the captain and coach. The participants learn from their mistakes. As a result, one must accept his error, address it, and move on.

In the match between India and Pakistan, the former was sent to bat and scored 181/7 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli led the way with a 60-ball knock.

With Pakistan chasing 182, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 71 off 51 balls. The impact innings, however, came from Mohammad Nawaz, who batted at No.4 and went on to score 42 runs off 20 balls.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Arshdeep Singh each took one wicket for India.
