Suryakumar Discusses His Unusual Shots Following the Asia Cup Blitz Against Hong Kong. Yadav’s spectacular knock helped India defeat Hong Kong and advance to the Super-4 stage.
Suryakumar Yadav lived up to his billing as the top-ranked Indian T20I batter in the ICC rankings on Wednesday, hitting six sixes and six fours against Hong Kong to help India pass the 190-mark in 20 overs. After a sluggish start, India was in danger of posting a low total. Surykumar, who arrived in the 14th over, made an immediate impact. He made an excellent stand with Virat Kohli (58*). Suryakumar then hit four sixes in Haroon Arshad’s final over to take India to 192/2 in 20 overs.
In just 22 balls, the No. 4 batter reached the half-century mark. His shot selection was incredible.

Suryakumar revealed the secret behind his unconventional shots during the mid-innings break.
“I’ve never practiced those strokes before. But before that, when I was younger and used to play with my friends, we used to play a lot of rubber ball cricket on hard cement, so it all started there “Suryakumar stated this on Star Sports.
“I felt it (the pitch) was sticky before, and later, when I was sitting and talking with Rohit bhai and Rishabh, I said that when I bat, I will try to take the tempo up a notch. We were aiming for 170-175 pounds, but the way things were going, I just kept expressing myself. I’m very pleased with how things turned out. On this wicket, I believe it is a good score.”
Suryakumar’s blitz helped push India’s total well beyond Hong Kong’s reach as the Rohit Sharma-led team won by 40 runs and qualified for the Super-4 stage after defeating Pakistan in the first match.
