Najibullah Zadran’s blistering knock of 43 runs off 17 deliveries secured the Afghanis a 7-wicket victory over the Bangla Tigers. The Shakib Al Hasan-led team will now face Sri Lanka in a virtual knockout match, with the winner advancing to the next round.
Following Afghanistan’s victory over Bangladesh, social media was ablaze. Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s heroics didn’t let the Bangladeshi batters rest for long. Netizens took to Twitter to proclaim that this team can cause an upset in the tournament. May even beat either India or Pakistan if both qualify for the Super Fours.
Former Afghanistan international Asghar Afghan did not rule it out. He stated that the majority of their games against Pakistan have been close. That if the team remains calm and follows a proper plan, they will eventually beat Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
The 35-year-old told CricTracker’s BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show, “If our players stick to the plan and remain calm, then we will have a really good match against Pakistan and hopefully even beat them.”

Because of the IPL, Indian players know how to play against Rashid and Mujeeb: Asghar Afghan
Rashid and Mujeeb have dominated every discussion with three wickets each against Bangladesh. Mujeeb gave the Bangladeshi batters no room to breathe and took control of the match with three crucial wickets in the powerplay. Rashid was later introduced into the attack and did exactly what Mujeeb had done earlier.
Many teams must remain on high alert while watching the duo bowl. The conditions in the UAE suit their bowling, so they can compete with India and Pakistan for the mega title. However, Asghar believes that India has an advantage because they have seen a lot of Rashid and Mujeeb in the Indian Premier League.
“Players who have played a lot against them can only play well against them.” Because they have a lot of IPL experience, Indian players can play our bowlers well. As a result, they have a mental image of them. “The players from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka don’t know how to tackle our bowlers because they haven’t played much against us,” said the 35-year-old on the same show.
