The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Nurul Hasan Sohan as their captain for the T20I series against Zimbabwe, replacing Mahmudullah Riyad, who has been rested. The all-rounder believes the Zimbabwe series will be a good test for him and that he will be able to overcome it. Meanwhile, Jalal Yunus, the BCB’s Cricket Operations Chairman, clarified that Mahmudullah will continue to be their regular T20I captain.

He also state that during a recent meeting, they discuss the captaincy issue with Mahmudullah, and it decide that a new team would be sent for the Zimbabwe series.

“We’ve been talking about the T20 team for a few days. The captaincy of Riyad discuss. We spoke with Riyad today about the T20 team. We decided to send a new team after consulting with him. We’ll give it a shot with some new players. That’s why we chose Sohan to lead the team,” Yunus said.

Bangladesh will play three T20Is and three ODIs in Zimbabwe, beginning on July 30 and August 5, respectively. All games will be held at Harare Sports Club in Harare. This will also be Bangladesh’s first T20I series since the retirement of Tamim Iqbal.
