Aakash Chopra on Shubman Gill’s dismissal against RCB

Aakash Chopra on Shubman Gill’s dismissal against RCB. In IPL 2024, captain of the Gujarat Titans Shubman Gill was removed cheaply once more, this time by a rampaging Mohammed Siraj.

Aakash Chopra was surprised to see Shubman Gill lose his wicket during the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday, May 4 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

After Faf du Plessis invited Gujarat to bat first, the opening combo of Gill and Wriddhiman Saha struggled to adjust to the circumstances. Saha was the first to be dismissed, losing his wicket to Mohammed Siraj in the second over. In his second over, the Hyderabad pacer dismissed Gill, who attempted to whip a ball over mid-on but only got a leading edge that went straight to Vijaykumar Vyshak at deep point. Sai Sudharsan, the Titans’ most productive batter, died in the final over of the powerplay, leaving the visitors at 19/3.

Chopra stated that due of the rains in the days before up to the match and the pitch remaining covered

The surface provided some assistance to the pacers, which Siraj took advantage of to good effect. According to the cricketer-turned-commentator, Shubman rarely gets out like he did against RCB.

“The Gujarat team lost the toss and was asked to bat first. They scored 23 runs in six overs, and three players were out: Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan. This was the slowest power play of the season. “They had scored 30 runs and lost four wickets against DC.”

The former India opener stated on his YouTube channel, analyzing Gujarat’s batting collapse.

“It rained there in the last three days, and the pitch was covered. There was a little spice, and Siraj took two wickets. Both openers were fired. You may understand Wriddhiman Saha’s dismissal, but Gill’s shot was disturbing. We’ve rarely seen him come out like that. Then Sai Sudharsan, the embodiment of consistency, came out to Cameron Green’s ball,” Chopra said.

After the first three wickets fell within six overs, Shahrukh Khan and David Miller cobbled together a 61-run partnership off 37 balls to spark a recovery for the former champions. However, they left in consecutive overs, setting the Titans back once more. Rahul Tewatia played a solid innings but received little help from the other end. RCB bowled out a team for the first time in IPL 2024, when Gujarat were rolled over for 147.

“It isn’t as though wickets stopped falling after that. David Miller was there for a while along with Shahrukh Khan. But wickets kept falling, whether it was from Mohammed Siraj, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Dayal, or Cameron Green, and eventually the team was all out. RCB got every team all out for the first time this season,” he remarked.

RCB crushed the Titans with a 92-run opening stand between du Plessis (64 off 23 balls) and Virat Kohli (42 off 27 balls) during the powerplay. Despite Joshua Little’s respectable four-for, the hosts eventually prevailed by four wickets with 38 balls remaining.
