Ravi Shastri selects India’s future captain

Ravi Shastri selects India’s future captain. “They’ll have to look at who might be the captain two years, three years down the line.”

According to former India head coach Ravi Shastri. The 2022 IPL could provide a clear indication of who will be India’s next long-term captain. In all formats, Rohit Sharma has taken over as India’s captain from Virat Kohli. However, given that the opener is already 34 years old, he is expect to be replace by a younger player in the future.

Virat Kohli resigned as India’s T20I captain following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in 2021, and he was later removed as the ODI captain. Following India’s defeat in South Africa this year, he stepped down as Test captain as well, and Rohit assumed all three responsibilities.

“Rohit isn’t growing any younger. Virat isn’t either (Kohli). “They’ll have to think about who might be the captain in two or three years,” Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo.

Ravi Shastri on India’s future captain: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul will be on my radar.

Shastri also stated that he will be keeping an eye on Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Hardik Pandya, who are all leading their respective teams in the IPL.

“So that’s where I’m going to look.” Rishabh Pant will be on my radar (Delhi Capitals). Shreyas Iyer will be on my radar (Kolkata Knight Riders). Quite closely. Of course, KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants), because of how he handles that side. And Hardik for the simple reason that if that can energise him in such a way that he will come out and play with gay abandon.”

In recent times, a number of young players have been given opportunities to play for India under Rohit Sharma’s command. Shastri stated that he is excited to see how these players improve their chances in the IPL.

Given that the T20 World Cup is about to begin in Australia, where the team will play on fast and bouncy pitches, Shastri believes the skipper and coach will pay special attention to the team’s pace bowling unit.

The IPL 2022 season begins on March 26 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, with MS Dhoni’s CSK facing Shreyas Iyer’s KKR.
