IND VS NZ 2nd Test:  IND defeat NZ by 372 runs clinching the series 1-0.

Indian spinners once again proved too hot to handle as New Zealand’s batting disintegrated on Day 4 of the second Test, allowing Virat Kohli’s squad to clinch the two-match Test series 1-0.

After dismissing New Zealand for 62 in the first innings. India thrashed them for 167 in the second to claim a convincing victory in Mumbai. On Day 4, India won the match in double quick time, dismissing the New Zealanders for just 27 runs. India’s first Test victory under new coach Rahul Dravid came in this match.

New Zealand had almost saved the first Test with a tenacious batting showing from rookie Rachin Ravindra. But India was not to be denied this time, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav each claiming four wickets in the second innings.

India’s 372-run victory was their largest in Test cricket. Surpassing their previous best of 337 against South Africa in 2015.

IND VS NZ 2nd Test

Despite the fact that New Zealand’s batting left a lot to be desired. The tourists will remember the Test fondly.

Ajaz Patel of New Zealand became only the third bowler in Test cricket history to take all ten wickets in an innings. He finished with match stats of 14/225, the most wickets in a Test match against India.

However, for New Zealand, who are now the World Test champions, this will be a mere consolation. In the second Test, the tourists were completely outplayed, with the New Zealand batting wilting under the pressure of the Indian spinners.

While the likes of Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, and Axar Patel were practically unplayable at times. Mayank Agarwal was India’s Test hero with bat in hand.

In the first innings, Agarwal hit a stunning 150, and in the second, he smashed a free-flowing 62. With the likes of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma out from the series, the right-handed opener made a significant statement with the South Africa tour approaching.

India does have a problem with abundance, but it’s a nice problem to have. However, there are still doubts over Ajinkya Rahane’s future. Time may be running out for Rahane, with young guns like Shreyas Iyer, who got his maiden Test century in the first Test, going well.
