Regarding Kieron Pollard’s future with the Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh said, “He’s Been There For Many Years, But…”. Despite being retained by the Mumbai Indians for INR 6 crores prior to the IPL 2022 auction, Kieron Pollard was only able to score 144 runs for the team at an average of 14.40 and a strike rate of 107.46.
Prior to the IPL 2023 auction, former Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that the team should release Kieron Pollard. Remarkably, the West Indies star was signed by the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians in 2010 more than a decade prior. He has been an important member of the team ever since, but his performance last year was terrible. Prior to the IPL 2022 auction, MI retained Pollard for INR 6 crores. Last season, Pollard scored 144 runs for the team at an average of 14.40 and a strike rate of 107.46.
By November 15, each of the 10 IPL teams must submit their final retention list.

According to Harbhajan, it will be difficult for MI to decide whether to keep Pollard or release him.
“Well, I think it’s going to be very difficult for Mumbai Indians to release Kieron Pollard. He’s been there for many years. But yes, there are times when you have to take few tough calls and maybe this is the time. They have to move forward and make a team for the next 4-5 years and try to find someone who can do what Pollard has done over the years,”
On the Star Sports program “Game Plan – IPL Retention Special,” Harbhajan revealed.
“Yes, they have Tim David, who can do a similar sort of job and of course, there is another Australian in the auction that is Cameroon Green. I think they will be eyeing him to be part of the Mumbai set-up. Of course, it’s going to be a tough call, but at some stage, you have to take those calls,”
he continued
