Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins withdraws from the 2023 IPL. Pat Cummins explained his decision to forego the IPL 2023 by citing the busy international schedule.
Australia’s Test and One-Day International skipper Pat Cummins has made the decision to skip the 2023 IPL. The renowned all-rounder announced his choice on Tuesday through Twitter. Cummins said that his jam-packed international schedule prevented him from attending the Indian T20 match. The athlete also thanked Kolkata Knight Riders, his IPL team, for respecting his choice. It is significant to note that Cummins makes the declaration on November 15, which is also the deadline for the ten IPL clubs to submit a list of the players they have kept and released.
“I’ve made the difficult decision to miss next years IPL. The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODI’s for the next 12 months, so will take some rest ahead of an Ashes series and World Cup,”
Cummins on his tweet.
“Thanks so much to @KKRiders for their understanding. Such a terrific team of players and staff and I hope I can get back there ASAP,”
He continued.
By Tuesday at 5 o’clock, each of the 10 IPL teams must submit a list of the players they have kept, moved, or released.
The Australian T20 World Cup team recently included Cummins. The team fell short of making it to the competition’s semifinals.
When Aaron Finch decide to stop playing in ODIs earlier this year, Cummins was name Australia’s new captain.
Australia had previously been led by Cummins to a notable Test series victory in Pakistan.
