Australia Unveils Indigenous-Inspired Men’s T20 World Cup Jersey. Aunty Fiona Clarke and Courtney Hagen collaborated with Asics to design Australia’s kit. The two have previously collaborated on other Indigenous designs worn by Australia.

The Australian men’s cricket team will defend their T20 World Cup title at home beginning next month. A Indigenous-Inspired Australia jersey designed for the occasion. The team will wear a jersey inspired by the indigenous community, with artwork that flows around the shirt.

Aunty Fiona Clarke and Courtney Hagen collaborated with Asics to design Australia’s kit. Previously, the two collaborated on other Indigenous designs worn by Australia.

“Walkabouts Wicket was painted by Clarke, a Kirrae Whurrong woman who is the great great grandson of James ‘Mosquito’ Couzens, who played in the Aboriginal XI in a landmark match at the MCG in 1866, and also tour England in 1868, the first sporting team from Australia to play abroad,” according to a cricket.com.au article.

Cricket Australia tweeted a video with the caption, “When our men’s national team defends their @T20WorldCup title on home soil next month, they will wear a new uniform designed by Kirrae Whurrong woman Aunty Fiona Clarke, in collaboration with Butchulla and Gubbi Gubbi woman Courtney Hagan.”

The Australians won their first T20 World Cup title last year in Dubai, defeating New Zealand in the final.
