Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting believes, India should include both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik in their T20 World Cup squad. Ponting believes that both wicketkeeper-batters are in excellent form. That having both players in the team may benefit Team India. While Pant has been in excellent form for India, Dinesh Karthik has had a strong Indian Premier League season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ponting stated that he would prefer Pant and Karthik over Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan.

“We’ve seen what Rishabh can do in 50-over cricket, and I know exactly what he can do in T20 cricket. Dinesh Karthik recently had his best IPL performance…and I would do anything to have both of those guys on my team. Rishabh Pant to bat in the three-four-five range, with Dinesh Karthik and possibly Hardik Pandya finishing…that batting line-up looks very, very dangerous “Ponting stated on the ICC Review.
“Obviously, this means that someone like (Ishan) Kishan, Surya (Suryakumar Yadav). (Shreyas) Iyer, or someone similar, may miss out, though I don’t think Surya will miss out given his current form. But picking an Indian team with so much talent is always going to be difficult, and Pant and Karthik are the two I would pick ahead of Kishan right now “He continued.
India is currently in the West Indies for three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
The first One-Day International (ODI) will take place later on Friday at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
