Royal Challengers Bangalore’s journey in the IPL 2022 came to an end on Friday when they were defeat by Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While RCB lost the match, they won hearts off the field with their congratulatory tweet for RR. “Shane Warne, the late great cricketer, is smiling down on you. RCB fail to bring their ‘A’ game on Friday and were completely outclass by a rampant Rajasthan team.
Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell all failed to make an impact with the bat, and despite a half-century from Rajat Patidar, RCB were restricted to 157 for eight in 20 overs.
Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy, both fast bowlers, were standouts for RR, taking three wickets each.
In the chase, Jos Buttler delivered yet again for RR, scoring a sensational unbeaten century. He also reached the 800-run mark for the season, a feat accomplished only twice before in IPL history.
Buttler was unbeaten on 106 off 60 balls as RR beat the target with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.
While RCB will return to the drawing board and focus on improving even more next season, RR will have their sights set on the big prize.
Rajasthan will compete in the IPL 2022 final on Sunday against Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans, who have been the team to beat this season.
