Following an International Cricket Council anti-doping test on January 17. Zubayr Hamza tested positive for the substance Furosemide, according to a CSA statement.
Cricket South Africa announced on Wednesday that South African cricketer Zubayr Hamza agree to a voluntary suspension. After testing positive for a prohibited substance. Hamza, 26, has appeared in six Tests and one one-day international. Following an International Cricket Council anti-doping test on January 17. Hamza tested positive for the substance Furosemide, according to a CSA statement. Furosemide is a diuretic that is use to treat hypertension and swelling caused by fluid buildup in the body. It is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s most prohibit list due to concerns that it may mask the effects of other drugs.

“Zubayr Hamza is not contesting the positive test. He is fully cooperating with the ICC, and agree to a voluntary suspension beginning immediately while written submissions are presented to the ICC,” CSA said.
“Furosemide is not a performance-enhancing drug, and Zubayr was able to determine how the drug enter his system.”
Hamza was name to South Africa’s squad for the current one-day series against Bangladesh, but he withdrew before the series began for “personal reasons.” according to the CSA.
