Harnaaz Sandhu of India wins Miss Universe for the first time in 21 years.
Only two Indians have won Miss Universe before Harnaaz Sandhu: actresses Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
Moreover, Ms Sandhu represented India today in Eilat, Israel, at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 pageant.
The 21-year-old from Punjab won the competition. Beating out Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.

Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, presented Ms Sandhu with the crown.

When asked for advice on how to deal with the pressures that young women encounter. Ms Sandhu responded calmly.
“The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that’s happening worldwide.”
“This is what you must comprehend. Come out and stand up for yourself because you are the boss of your own life and the voice of your own people. I have faith in myself, which is why I am standing here now “Ms Sandhu stated confidently.
In addition, Ms Sandhu, who began her pageant career at the age of 17. Had previously won Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, and even finished in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019.
Lastly, “Yaara Diyan Poo Baran” and “Bai Ji Kuttange” are two Punjabi films in which she has appeared.
