England vs. India: Stuart Broad becomes the third pacer in history to reach a major test milestone. Stuart Broad took his 550th Test wicket on Saturday, becoming only the third pacer in the format’s history to do so.

Stuart Broad became the third pacer in Test cricket history to take 550 wickets on Saturday. To set the record, he dismissed Mohammed Shami on Day 2 of the rescheduled fifth Test between India and England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. When he entered the game, the right-arm England pacer needed just one wicket to reach the milestone, but despite bowling 15 overs, he remained wicketless on Day 1. Broad finally got a wicket in his 16th over of the match, and the first on Day 2.

Broad delivered a bouncer to Mohammed Shami, who duly fell into the trap by playing an upper cut into the hands of the third-man fielder. The wicket assisted Broad in reaching 550 Test wickets, a feat previously held only by James Anderson and Glenn McGrath among pacers.

With 656 wickets to his name, James Anderson is the leading wicket-taker among pacers in Test cricket. Glenn McGrath comes in second with 563 scalps, while Broad is third on the list. Muttiah Muralitharan leads the chart with 800 wickets, while Shane Warne comes in second with 708.

Concerning the match, India were all out for 416 after England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl first. In the first innings, India’s Rishabh Pant (146) and Ravindra Jadeja (104) shone, while England’s Anderson (5/60) was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball.
