Avesh Khan, a pacer for the Delhi Capitals, had a strong season last year (DC). He also given an India call-up and made his debut against the West Indies in a three-match T20I series last month.
Avesh Khan, who will now play for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2022, recalled how DC head coach Ricky Ponting’s words of wisdom inspired him last season.

“Ricky sir put his arms around my shoulders before my first match last season and said. ‘This is your time. You must now demonstrate your worth because you have been with Delhi for the past four years. Ricky sir always encouraged me and told me. ‘One day you’ll play for India.’ “Avesh stated this on YouTube’s ‘Backstage with Boria’ show.
“He always tell me to be ready for my chance because I am always one of the 12-13 players chosen. I could never make it into the Playing XI before. But last year, from the first match, I was in the XI and I was able to live up to his expectations “He continued.
Avesh finished last season as the IPL’s second-highest wicket-taker, with 24 wickets.
However, he was released by DC prior to the massive auction.
Avesh was purchased by LSG during the auction for a whopping Rs 10 crore.
