According to Delhi Police: The jail officers were also detained for supporting Sukesh Chandrashekhar in his crimes, according to RK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi (Economic Offenses Wing). Sukesh Chandrashekar, who allegedly led an extortion ring from Rohini jail, lived inside the jail like a “king,” according to RK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi (Economic Offenses Wing).
On August 8, this year, Chandrashekar was arrested on suspicion of leading an extortion ring.
According to Delhi Police: “He was living like a king in the prison. Because of the facilities provided to him, it appears that all authorities of the Rohini jail were complicit. He was assigned an entire barrack that was devoid of any other convicts. He had also covered the CCTV cameras. For a year, he was free to use his phone to run the extortion ring.” ANI quoted Mr Singh as saying.
Mr. Singh continued, “He enjoyed living an opulent lifestyle. He was a big fan of high-end luxury autos. We grabbed 18-20 high-end automobiles from his farm. Through his partner Leena Maria Paul, he was also involved in the film industry.”
Mr Singh said Chandrashekar had an iPhone 12 Pro Max and a Samsung phone, and he was also using an Israeli phone number. “He also used a spoofing tool to entice his targets by impersonating government officials and lawmakers.
