Waqar Younis lauds team India’s balance following win over Pakistan

Waqar Younis lauds team India’s balance following win over Pakistan. “I believe India gave Pakistan an excellent chance to win this game by batting poorly. “They could have easily put up 140-150,” Younis explained.

Team India won an exciting match against archrivals Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. On June 9, both teams faced off at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York for the tournament’s 19th game.

Batting first, India suffered a collapse as the majority of their hitters failed to deliver. However, Rishabh Pant’s resilience enabled the team score 119 runs in the first innings. Pakistan appeared to be on track for a victory, but India’s excellent bowling attack prevented the Men in Green from chasing down the score.

Pakistan scored only 113 runs and lost the game by six runs. Former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis recently spoke out to share his thoughts on the game. The 52-year-old believes India gave Pakistan a good chance to win the game. However, India’s outstanding players stole the game.

“I believe India gave Pakistan an excellent chance to win this game by batting poorly. They could have easily raised about 140-150. Losing those seven wickets at the end wasn’t much assistance. However, India is a well-balanced side. If they don’t bat well, they know they have (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Siraj, and Ravindra (Jadeja) to support their bowling and fielding, making them a super squad,” Younis told Star Sports.

It was a horrible performance by the Pakistani batters: Waqar Younis

Furthermore, Waqar Younis slammed Pakistan’s batting performance. He added that Pakistan was granted the victory, but they were unable to cross the finish line.

“If Pakistan cannot win this game, what should I say? This was handed to you on a silver platter, and Pakistan absolutely squandered it. The Pakistani batsmen had a terrible performance. There were a few early partnerships, but they were unable to complete the game,” Waqar remarked.
