Babar Azam ahead of clash against USA

Babar Azam ahead of clash against USA. “It will be a proud moment and a big occasion for the USA when they play a former champion on Thursday,” Babar stated.

On June 6, Pakistan will face the United States of America in the first game of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Dallas’ Grand Prairie Stadium. USA began their campaign with a victory over Canada in the tournament opener. Aside from that, they won the T20I series against Bangladesh by a large margin.

Ahead of the game, Pakistan captain Babar Azam stated that the team will not take the USA lightly. He eradicated any hints of complacency among the group heading into the contest. The World Cup is being hosted in the United States and the West Indies. Babar joked that the conditions will put the best teams to the test. He also stated that each of the 20 teams competing had an advantage entering the event.

“The USA’s matchup against a former champion on Thursday promises to be a proud and momentous occasion. They proved they deserved to be here after defeating Canada in the tournament’s opening match and Bangladesh 2-1, which is great news for the growth and promotion of cricket in the area. Without becoming complacent. We will treat them with the respect they deserve,” Babar Azam stated in a Pakistan Cricket Board statement.

“All 20 teams are here believing they can win the tournament. As such, it is going to be an exciting but extremely challenging and testing tournament, and that’s the beauty of world championships,” he added.

We will follow the horses-for-courses policy in team selections: Babar

Pakistan is one of the few teams that has been experimenting with different combinations. The new opening combination of Saim Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan is not performing well. During the England series, Babar Azam, ranked third, appeared out of touch. Amidst all of this, the 30-year-old said that the team will make changes depending on the competition they face.

Since the conditions in the USA will be unfamiliar and we will be facing a few opponents we have never faced before, we will choose our team according to the horses-for-courses policy. The notion and significance of floating players in contemporary cricket have grown significantly, and our players understand both this and their own roles and responsibilities,” he said.
