Babar Azam is set to take over as Pakistan’s captain for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, succeeding Shaheen Afridi, who had a brief stint as captain. Shaheen assumed the role after Babar resigned following Pakistan’s elimination from the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, after a disappointing 1-4 loss in New Zealand and a lacklustre performance in the PSL 2024. Shaheen relieve of his duties, and Babar reinstated as captain.
Speculation erupted about Babar and Shaheen’s connection, spurred by the latter’s cryptic social media post expressing his dissatisfaction with the manner of his departure. He emphasised that the atmosphere during their Army training extremely positive and advise the media to confirm the truth before reporting it. “When we arrived, we found the most welcoming atmosphere we could have imagined. The boys were united. After training and iftar, they’d go to the snooker room or watch TV together. “It was a really good atmosphere,” Riaz said.

Ramiz Raja’s comment on Mohammad Amir is very harsh: Riaz
Addressing former PCB chief Ramiz Raja’s criticism of Mohammad Amir, Wahab defended the left-arm seamer, who recently returned to the national team after a four-year absence. “These are Pakistani players who want to represent their country; that is their collective goal, and they are and will remain united as a result of it. “The players you mentioned will win games for Pakistan in the future,” he added.
“Ramiz Raja saab’s remark on Mohammad Amir is extremely harsh. “I don’t think he deserves it because it was a very negative comment,” Wahab concluded.
