Shashank Singh reflects on the reasons for success in IPL 2024. “The only requirement is self-belief. Like how we played domestic cricket. Assume you see Nitish here. He scored frequently and got wickets in both white and red ball cricket,” Shashank Singh stated.

The massive cricket carnival IPL 2024 (Indian Premier League) has seen many fantastic performances from numerous stars so far, but one of the season’s standout performers has been Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Shashank Singh. The 32-year-old made headlines immediately following the IPL auction, as it appeared that PBKS had purchased him by mistake.

However, it was made clear that the franchise had always wanted to sign Shashank. Shashank Singh has excelled in the IPL, scoring 137 runs in five games. The star player recently spoke about how believing in oneself helped him perform at his best.

In PBKS’ recent match against SRH, Nitish Kumar Reddy was named Player of the Match for his brilliant all-round performance, and Shashank believes that the youngsters are bringing confidence from their domestic performances into the IPL.

“The only requirement is self-belief. Like how we played domestic cricket. Assume you see Nitish here. He often scored and took wickets in both white and red ball cricket. Ashutosh, you can see that he fared exceptionally well in the Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare trophies. But there are others who are coming in, such as Angkrish from KKR,” Shashank told IndiaToday.

Furthermore, the great PBKS batter stated that while the young players are unknown in the IPL, they are well-known stars in the domestic circuit, and pondered on how chance plays an important role in everything. Furthermore, he stated that performing well on the home circuit served as a reward in the form of the opportunity to play in the big cricket carnival.

“So the players coming in, while unknown here, are well-known on the domestic circuit. We play domestically, and they are doing extremely well. So it’s a reward for that. Whatever you do at home, you will do here as well,” he added.

“That performance led you here. Cricket is a game about believing in oneself. I believe that whatever you do at this level, you bring confidence and self-belief, and you will succeed. Obviously, luck plays a role, but that self-confidence is always present,” Shashank concluded.
