Gavaskar reveals solid advice to RCB for course-correction

Gavaskar reveals solid advice to RCB for course-correction. Up to Match 18 of the IPL 2024, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru had won only one of their four games.

The star-studded Royal Challengers Bengaluru would have hoped for a better start to their campaign than their present record, having won only one of their first four games. Their solitary victory came against the Punjab Kings at home, where they survived a nail-biting run chase.

Ahead of the Royal Derby between RR and RCB, former Indian captain Gavaskar advice on what RCB should do to improve their season. Despite correctly stating that the toss is outside of RCB’s control, he believes that if they win the toss, they should bowl first and chase targets rather than set them, given their batting strength. Gavaskar believed that this would improve RCB’s chances of winning matches.

“Obviously, the toss is beyond your control. They should, however, chase targets whenever possible, as batting is their strong suit. “I believe that will give them a better chance of winning matches,” Gavaskar said on the cricket chat show Midwicket Stories, according to the Hindustan Times.

Gavaskar’s views highlighted RCB’s bowling challenges, as they had given 719 runs in 75.3 overs so far.

Kohli – The one man show for RCB so far

Kohli had appeared in excellent form in RCB’s first four games, with scores of 21, 77, 83, and 22 heading into the game against RR. Aside from him, Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, and Rajat Patidar have lacked team cohesion, with none of them ranking in the top 20 batters in terms of runs scored.
