CSK always play their IPL matches on home grounds: Khaleel Ahmed

CSK always play their IPL matches on home grounds: Khaleel Ahmed. “We also respect that. We enjoy it as well, and it’s especially fun because he (Dhoni) is also our captain,” Ahmed explained.

Following Delhi Capitals’ 20-run victory over Chennai Super Kings on March 31, left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed made a bold assertion about CSK’s support base. Despite the fact that DC play their home games in Visakhapatnam, Ahmed claims that every IPL venue is a home ground for the Yellow Army because of their great fan support everywhere.

The Vizag crowd was a sea of yellow during the DC versus CSK match, roaring for former CSK captain MS Dhoni and the team despite the fact that it was the Capitals’ home game. Even CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed gratitude for the support and welcome the team received prior to the match. When asked subsequently about it, Khaleel acknowledged the franchise’s large fan base in Chennai.

“First and foremost, allow me to inform you. The Chennai Super Kings always play their IPL games at home (laughter). We also respect that. We enjoy it as well, and it’s especially exciting because he (Dhoni) is also our captain,” Khaleel said at the post-match press conference, as reported by India Today.

The mood in the camp is also good: Khaleel Ahmed

The DC pacer was clearly impressed by CSK’s devoted fans, who create a home atmosphere for their team regardless of the venue. Despite the fact that DC had a few supporters in the stands, the yellow contingent’s presence felt powerful.

“However, there were a few Delhi fans who came to support us during the match and would have been pleased with the outcome. Everyone in the squad is smiling, and the atmosphere in the camp is positive following the victory,” he added.

“When you win, you get momentum. The triumph exposes both our strengths and places for improvement. So the culture we’ve built has provided solutions to those questions,” Khaleel said.

Regarding the match, CSK fell 20 runs short of the target, but Dhoni (37* off 16) and Ravindra Jadeja (21* off 17) provided fans with a late glimpse of their explosive hitting as the visitors finished at 171/6 in 20 overs. DC reached 191/5 thanks to fifties from David Warner (52) and Rishabh Pant (51) as well as a nice hit of 43 from Prithvi Shaw.

Khaleel was instrumental in DC’s victory, winning Player of the Match for his 2 for 21 in four overs. Following two losses, DC won their first game of the season. In contrast, the defending champions suffered their first loss of the season.
