Shubman Gill punished for sustaining a sluggish overrate versus CSK. The GT skipper was handed a fine of INR 12 lakh.

In their second IPL 2024 match, the Gujarat Titans (GT) took against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk. Despite Gill’s new status as captain, GT was unable to prevent CSK from claiming their second consecutive win of the season.

Gill, 24, took over as captain from Hardik Pandya, who guided Gujarat Titans to their first IPL triumph in 2022 and finished runners-up in 2023 before joining Mumbai Indians this season.

GT also found themselves in violation of the IPL’s Code of Conduct after their skipper, Gill, punish for the team’s poor over rate during the March 26 encounter. He fined INR 12 lakhs. The incident was their first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct for minimum over-rate violations.
