The highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season is just around the corner. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is one of the teams looking to build a name for themselves in this fascinating event. The Lucknow-based franchise will face the Rajasthan Royals in their first game on Sunday, March 24, in Jaipur.

Since their start in 2022, LSG has qualified for the playoffs twice but has failed to win the coveted trophy, falling in the Eliminators each time. As they prepare for another trophy chase, LSG received a significant boost with the news that their skipper, KL Rahul, has recovered from a quadriceps injury that kept him out of India’s last Test series against England.

Notably, KL Rahul, who suffered the injury during the Hyderabad Test in January, flew to London last month to speak with a specialist. Following a thorough rehabilitation process and completion of all return-to-play criteria, the right-hander has rejoined the LSG club and is expect to lead the team.

He’ll be at the ground later on tonight: Langer

Justin Langer, the former Australian head coach who will also coach the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the forthcoming IPL 2024, addressed worries over Rahul’s availability.

“KL suppose to be here this afternoon to play in the practice game tonight, but unfortunately, he’s had a hold-up on the airplane, He’ll be at the ground later on tonight, so he’ll probably arrive just after the start of the day’s play,” Langer said in a teleconference on Wednesday.

“He’ll be here for the first time, to be with the boys and the team. Everyone is looking forward to seeing him. We know he worked hard to complete all of his return-to-play protocols. He work extremely hard. He’s been practicing and hitting plenty of balls. He is hopefully ready to travel. It’ll be good to have the captain among us,” Langer added, expressing his excitement at Rahul’s return.

With Devdutt Padikkal joining the LSG squad for the new season, Rahul may be push down from his normal starting position. However, Langer remained tight-lipped about the batting order, emphasizing that the team’s success should come first.

“If the team does well, everyone is reward. And so, from KL’s perspective, if he leads the Lucknow Super Giants to an IPL victory, that means he would’ve played well, captained well, and wicket-kept well,” the former Australia coach said.
