Rohit Sharma gives light on pitch talk following Rajkot Test victory. “We have the strength to play on any wicket and win on it,” Rohit told reporters.

India has grabbed a commanding 2-1 lead in the ongoing five-match Test series against England after a stunning win in Rajkot. Skipper Rohit Sharma discussed the team’s incredible 434-run victory and their belief in their ability to succeed on every playing surface, especially rank turners.

In the post-match press conference, Rohit praised the team’s success on difficult pitches. He also stated that the squad has little control over pitch preparation, but they aim to adapt to varied wickets and succeed regardless of the conditions.

“We’ve won a lot of games on such wickets before.” We continue to excel on turning tracks and pitches where the ball turns. It provides balance. We’ve been providing results for years and will continue to do so in the future. However, we have no influence over certain aspects; for example, we do not discuss whether or not we want rank turners. We came here (to the locations) two days before the match, and how much can we do in two days?” Rohit asked.

“The curators decide and make the pitch. We are strong enough to win on any wicket. “When we won the Test in South Africa (in Cape Town), everyone knows what kind of wicket it was,” Rohit said.

Sharma emphasized the team’s adaptability to the diverse pitch conditions

From spinning tracks in Hyderabad to low-bounce surfaces in Visakhapatnam, and now a turning yet unpredictable surface in Rajkot.

“(In) the last three Tests, we had different challenges. The ball spun in the first Test in Hyderabad, and the pitch was slow. In Vizag, it was kept low. As the game proceeded, the wicket became slower. It performed admirably for the first three days. Today, we noticed that the ball was rotating and was low. This is (in) the nature (of pitches); we see pitches like this in India. But if we get rank turners, we’ll play on them too,” the Indian skipper remarked.

Rohit Sharma appreciates Ravindra Jadeja, saying, “He knows exactly what his game is.”

The Indian captain praised Ravindra Jadeja, who struck a century and bowled a match-winning session. Rohit lauded the southpaw’s mastery of local circumstances while also expressing trust in younger players like as Sarfaraz Khan.

“We’ve observed him throughout the years, and he understands the conditions quite well. He understands exactly what his game is. Here, he is no exception. This is his hometown, thus he understands the conditions better than anyone else. I haven’t seen Sarfaraz bat that much. But according to everyone I’ve spoken to, including Mumbai players, he’s made runs in a lot of difficult situations for Mumbai.” Rohit concluded.
