Zaheer Khan shares his thoughts on Rajkot surface

Zaheer Khan shares his thoughts on Rajkot surface. Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match in the second Test after picking up nine wickets.

A photo of the pitch has gone viral on social media ahead of the third India vs England Test, which begins on Thursday, February 15 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Former England captain Michael Atherton spoke on the surface and believed that England did the right thing by including an extra seamer in their playing XI.

Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan also expressed his opinion on the pitch, hoping that it would be similar to the first two Tests. He also stated that the surface will promote reverse swing and that spin will dominate on the fourth and fifth days.

“I hope the pitch is comparable to that in Hyderabad and Vizag. You will also see some reverse swing. On the fourth and fifth days, spinners will dominate. If this is the pattern, it will provide a pleasant viewing experience for all spectators and fans,” Zaheer stated on JioCinema.

Zaheer also discussed Team India’s selection issues as they prepare for the third Test. Notably, with Ravindra Jadeja’s return, the team management would have to dismiss one of Axar Patel or Kuldeep Yadav to make place for the great all-rounder.

“That’s another headache after you’ve selected the squad! “Whether it’s Axar (Patel), Kuldeep (Yadav), or all of them,” he said.

England bring in Mark Wood for third Test

Kuldeep claimed four wickets in the second Test, while Axar Patel took two wickets and scored 72 runs over two innings. With the Indian batting lineup lacking experience, Axar Patel may find himself in a better position.

Meanwhile, England has declared their playing XI for the third Test and made one change, replacing Shoaib Bashir with fast bowler Mark Wood. The five-match series is currently poised 1-1, and given Rajkot’s history, massive scores are predicted over the next five days.
