Devon Conway excited ahead of PAK T20Is. New Zealand will host Pakistan for a five-match Twenty20 International series.

New Zealand and Pakistan will face off in what promises to be a thrilling five-match T20I series. The first Twenty20 International will be contested on Friday, January 12 at Auckland’s Eden Park.

After being sidelined for the T20I series against Bangladesh. Wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Conway stated his joy that he will play against Pakistan. Throughout the campaign, the southpaw is keen to perform in different cities in front of his home fans.

“It’s always exciting, especially the inaugural game at Eden Park. We always get a good turnout, and the atmosphere at Eden Park is electrifying. It is an excellent opportunity for us to go throughout the country, play at various venues, and entertain our home supporters,” Conway told India Today before of the first T20I.

Conway remarked that he has played a lot of cricket against Pakistan and praised the Asian team’s quality. He also stated that playing against Pakistan is always a good challenge, particularly on the white-ball tour.

“So we’re looking forward to that. I’ve played a lot of cricket against Pakistan, particularly white-ball cricket. They are a really skill unit with the bat and ball; they have some great fast bowlers and batsmen up front, which is good for us. We have a fair sense of how they approach things. “It is always a good challenge to play against Pakistan, especially in white ball cricket,” Conway added.

Shaheen Afridi set to start era as Pakistan’s T20 captain

Pakistan named Shaheen Afridi as their T20 captain after Babar Azam renounced captaincy across all formats last year. The great bowler is about to embark on his maiden assignment as Pakistan captain. Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan has been appointed as his deputy.

Pakistan recently lost a 0-3 defeat in a three-match Test series in Australia. The Kiwis, on the other side, drew a 1-1 T20I series at home against Bangladesh. With the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon, this next series between New Zealand and Pakistan is expected to serve as a good preparation for both teams.
