Super Smash hosts a ‘Thank You Gup’ day to honor Martin Guptill’s career. “Martin is without doubt one of our country’s finest ever white-ball cricketers. We wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate and recognise what he has done for cricket.” He said.

The Auckland Aces’ Super Smash T20 match against the Wellington Firebird on January 4 will honor New Zealand batter Martin Guptill’s stellar career. The ‘Thank You Gup’ day will commemorate the 37-year-old’s achievements for New Zealand and Auckland Cricket.

For the testimonial game, the Eden Park Outer Oval will be renamed. ‘The Martin Guptill Oval’ as part of the celebrations. Guptill’s achievements will also be recognized at the grassroots level. The main T20 competition rename the Martin Guptill Cup beginning with the 2024-25 season.

Guptill has stated that the special day will not be his retirement celebration, and that he will continue to play franchise cricket. It should be note that Guptill not appear for the national squad since October 2022.

Furthermore, with the celebrations approaching, Auckland Cricket CEO Iain Laxon came up to compliment Guptill for his exploits in New Zealand cricket, claiming that he is one of the finest white-ball cricketers the country has ever produced.

“Martin is without a doubt one of our country’s finest ever white-ball cricketers. We wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate and recognise what he has done for cricket. ESPNcricinfo report Iain Laxon as saying.

“At times, his career feels like an ongoing highlight reel, with so many moments where he has made hugely significant contributions for Auckland or on the international stage for New Zealand.” Those efforts make memories for all of us, and we want everyone to join us in thanking him for all of those beautiful moments,” he added.

Guptill has been dubbed an Auckland cricket legend. With 2313 runs at an average of 37.91 and a strike rate of 133.23 since making his T20 debut for the side in 2006, the 37-year-old is their highest-ever run-getter in the format.
