Sunrisers Hyderabad must pursue Rachin Ravindra: Irfan Pathan. Pathan emphasized the need of having a backup opener, emphasizing that Ravindra’s involvement might be critical for SRH.
Following the conclusion of the ICC One-Day International World Cup, a rising talent from New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra, is creating quite a stir in the cricketing world. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan feels the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) should target the promising all-rounder as the IPL 2024 auction approaches on December 19 in Dubai.
With INR 34 crores still available, the Hyderabad-based franchise has the option of signing six players, including three overseas cricketers. While giving his thoughts, Pathan stressed the need of SRH acquiring a wicket-taking spinner, naming Ravindra as the ideal prospect who can also act as a backup opener. As he puts it:
“Ideally, they’d like to have a proper spinner who can take wickets.” They had Adil Rashid, but he is no longer available. Obviously, they have Mayank Markande, but they need more,” Pathan remarked on Star Sports.
Pathan went on to emphasize the necessity of having a backup opener. Emphasizing how important Rachin Ravindra involvement would be for SRH.
“If they have two all-rounders who are batting well in Washington Sundar and Marco Jansen. They can actually play with the playing XI. ” A backup opener is critical for them, which is why they should pursue Rachin Ravindra aggressively,” he continued.
Supporting Pathan’s comments, cricket analyst Sanjay Manjrekar stated that Ravindra’s usefulness will make SRH a better squad, complimenting their present frontline batsmen Aiden Markram and Glenn Phillips, who can also contribute with useful spin bowling.
Manjrekar expressed confidence in SRH’s bowling squad, citing pacers such as T Natarajan, Umran Malik, and Marco Jansen. He also mentioned Mayank Markande’s spin possibilities and the acquisition of Shahbaz Ahmed.
“I’m not concerned about the bowling because they have enough pace. ” T Natarajan, Umran Malik, and Marco Jansen are among those present. “They have enough spin with Mayank Markande, and they now have Shahbaz Ahmed as an option,” he remarked.
While discussing possible areas for development. Manjrekar advise that SRH explore acquiring top-order backups for Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi, with an emphasis on building a dependable team to rebound from their last-place finish:
