BCCI offers extension to Rahul Dravid as head coach of India

BCCI offers extension to Rahul Dravid as head coach of India. The BCCI met Rahul Dravid last week and offered him an extension with no set expiration date.

According to a recent update, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has urged Rahul Dravid to continue as the Indian cricket team’s head coach. The BCCI approached him last week, giving him an extension with no set expiry date.

However, it has not yet been verified whether Dravid has accepted the offer. The fundamental reason the BCCI wants him to stay is to preserve the framework he has built over the last two years. If a new head coach is appointed, Dravid’s ambitions may be jeopardized.

If Dravid accepts the enlarged position, his first responsibility would be to lead the Indian team on their journey to South Africa. The tour consists of three T20Is and one ODI each team, followed by two Tests at Centurion and Cape Town.

Dravid succeeded Ravi Shastri as head coach in 2021, and his initial two-year tenure ended with India as runners-up in the ODI World Cup. If he stays, he will almost certainly maintain the same assistant coaches he began working with in 2021. Vikram Rathour was the team’s batting coach, Paras Mhambrey was the bowling coach, and T Dilip was the fielding coach throughout his time.

I haven’t thought about continuing as a coach: Dravid

Dravid expressed pleasure in India’s supremacy across formats during the 2017 World Cup final, but was unhappy not to win an ICC title. When asked if he would continue as a coach, he said he didn’t have time to ponder about it because his main attention was on the World Cup campaign.

“I haven’t given it much thought. “I don’t have time to think about it or reflect on it. ” Dravid had stated. “I will when I have the opportunity. ” But, at the moment, I was entirely focused on this campaign. I completely concentrate on the World Cup and had no other thoughts. And I haven’t given any attention to what could happen in the future.”
