India recorded their best ODI score against Australia in the second ODI of the three-match series on Sunday. September 24 at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. After being put in to bat first, the Men in Blue scored 399/5 in their allotted 50 overs. Led by hundreds from Shubman Gill (104 off 97) and Shreyas Iyer (105 off 90).
In response, Australia got off to a shaky start, as opener Matthew Short bowl for 9 off 8 by Prasidh Krishna in the second over. Steve Smith, who is captaining the team today, came in at number three to start the innings. However, much to his team’s chagrin, he was disqualified on the opening ball while attempting to chase a wide one.
The Australian captain tried to get his innings start. He ended up edging a wide delivery from Krishna straight to Shubman Gill in first slip and was out for a golden duck. As a result, Australia was in big trouble at 9/2 after just 1.3 overs.

Earlier in the first innings, India’s Ruturaj Gaikwad was removed for 8 in the fourth over of the innings. With only 16 runs on the board. Following the early blow, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill put on a stunning 200-run stand off 173 balls to put their team on top.
Suryakumar Yadav goes berserk in the end
Captain KL Rahul too came out firing, blasting three fours and as many sixes in a quick-fire 52 off 38 balls. He even threw Cameron Green out of the stadium after the ball traveled 94 meters after leaving his bat. Suryakumar Yadav also got his second successive fifty of the series with a stunning knock of 72* (37) that included six fours and six sixes.
