India dethrones Pakistan in all three forms after defeating Australia in the first ODI. The Men in Blue dethroned Pakistan at the top of the One-Day International (ODI) standings.

On Friday, September 22 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. India defeated Australia by five wickets in the opening ODI of the three-match series. After allowing Australia to bat first, KL Rahul’s team swept them out for 276 runs. Mohammed Shami recording his best ODI bowling stats (5/51, 10 overs). In response, India easily chased down the goal in 48.4 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (71 off 77), Shubman Gill (74 off 63), KL Rahul (58* off 63), and Suryakumar Yadav (50 off 49).

With the victory, India gained a 1-0 lead in the series and climbed to the top of the ICC ODI team rankings. The Men in Blue dethroned arch-rivals Pakistan (115 ratings) from first place with 116 ratings. Furthermore, the Asian Champions are the highest-rated team in T20Is (264 ratings) and Tests (118 ratings). As a result, India made history by becoming the first Asian team to top the ICC rankings in all three forms.

Several Indian players are also at the top of the player rankings, demonstrating India’s dominance in the cricketing world.

Ravichandran Ashwin is the highest-rated Test bowler, with 879 ratings, while Ravindra Jadeja is the highest-rated all-rounder, with 455 ratings.

Mohammed Siraj recently ascended to the top of the ODI bowling rankings with his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. The right-arm seamer has a total of 694 ratings. Furthermore, Suryakumar Yadav leads the T20I batting standings with 889 ratings.

Meanwhile, the Men-in-Blue will be looking to maintain their lead by winning the second ODI on Sunday, September 24 at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. If India wins the series 2-1, they will be the top-ranked side in the ODI World Cup in 2023.
