Sunil Gavaskar asked the BCCI to award a ‘Golden Ticket’ to former world champion captains Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni. The ODI World Cup is schedule to take place in India from October 5.

The much-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup will begin on October 5 in 10 different sites across India. After hosting the ICC global tournament in 1987, 1996, and 2011, India has earned the rights for the fourth time. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has developed a big effort ahead of the showpiece event by distributing ‘Golden Ticket’ to some important individuals in the country.

Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood icon, obtained the ticket earlier in September, becoming the first person to obtain the rare permit. After a few days, BCCI secretary Jay Shah delivered it to great Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar. Sunil Gavaskar, a World Cup-winning cricketer, applauded the BCCI’s initiative, calling it “terrific.”

“It is not known how many others are on the list, but hopefully. The chief of ISRO, under whom India landed on the moon, will be one. Of course, the two World Cup-winning captains, Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, deserve the golden ticket as well. “Olympic and World Athletics Championship gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is another name that comes to mind for the BCCI golden ticket,” he stated.

Sunil Gavaskar went on to applaud the BCCI, saying it is the type of initiative witness at Wimbledon and the US Open Tennis Championships. He went on to say that India has many athletic icons, and that honoring them will help the BCCI’s image. Furthermore, he mentioned some notable names, such senior tennis player Rohan Boppana, who recently had a strong showing in the US Open, and table tennis legend Sharath Kamal.

“It’s a fantastic initiative, as seen at Wimbledon and the US Open Tennis, where current and former champions from other sports are special invitees to watch the tournaments.” India has so many sporting heroes; if they are also awarded the golden ticket, the BCCI’s image will shine brightly. Other names include Rohan Bopanna, who recently finished runner-up at the US Open, and Sharath (Kamal), a table tennis super legend. It is the recognition that is important. Congratulations, BCCI!” The former India captain went on to say.
