On Monday, 11 September, star India batter Virat Kohli unleash his wrath on Pakistan during the Super 4 match of Asia Cup 2023 at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. During his magnificent performance, Kohli added another feather to his cap by being the fastest player to achieve 13,000 runs in ODIs, accomplishing the feat in just 267 innings. Kohli followed in the footsteps of his cricketing idol Sachin Tendulkar, who reached the milestone in 321 innings.

With 13,024 runs from 278 appearances at an average of 57.62 and a strike rate of 93.85. The 34-year-old is the fifth-highest ODI run-scorer. He’s only two hundreds away from tying Tendulkar’s ODI record for most hundreds. Kohli currently has 47 hundreds and needs two more to equal Tendulkar’s world record.

KL Rahul shines on his comeback

Meanwhile, Kohli received strong support from KL Rahul. Who made a superb century (111* off 106) on his return to international cricket. The 31-year-old has been out of action after injuring himself while fielding during IPL 2023 match 43 between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow. The Bangalore-born cricketer underwent successful surgery and returned to the team for the Asia Cup 2023 following a healthy recovery.

Kohli and Rahul got involved in a massive 233-run partnership off 193 balls and help India reach a monumental score of 356/2 in their allotted 50 overs. Shadab Khan (1/71) and Shaheen Afridi (1/79) were the only two bowlers amongst the wickets for Pakistan as they had a forgettable day in the middle.
