Government warns the media of legal action against internet betting advertisements. During recent major athletic events, like cricket, there has been an increase in gambling and betting commercials, according to the advise provided to the parties in question.

According to these advisories, betting and gambling are illegal activities. So any direct or indirect promotion of these activities on media platforms violates a number of laws. Including the Consumer Protection Act of 2019 and the Press Council Act of 1978, among others.

Failure to follow this advice could result in the government taking the proper legal action, according to the alert.
