Harmanpreet Kaur retires injured after being whacked on the hand. India is currently playing Bangladesh in the second one-day international (ODI) of a three-match series.
India won the T20 series against Bangladesh after winning the first two games. However, the ‘Women in Blue’ lost the third T20I. Bangladesh gained confidence from the victory and began the ODI series with a thrilling 40-run triumph over India in a rain-shortened match.
The two teams are now playing the second One-Day International (ODI) at Dhaka on Wednesday, July 19. The tourists were invited to bat first after Nigar Sultana won the toss. Priya Punia and Yastakia Bhatia were out early, but Harmanpreet Kaur, who came into bat at 40/2, showed courage and resolve in India’s must-win game. Kaur batted intelligently on a tricky pitch, scoring 48 runs in 80 balls.
Her innings came to an abrupt end when whacked on the hand. The 34-year-old hit a quick single in the 36th over of the competition. However, a fielder’s throw smacked her on the hand. The physiotherapist arrived to provide her with medical care. She resume batting, but the severe pain got the better of her after only a few balls, and she was forced to walk off the field.

Harmanpreet Kaur returns to bat
Jemimah Rodrigues completed a half-century when she beautifully drove Marfa Akter for a boundary in the 41st over. The talented kid reached her fifty in just 56 balls.
Harleen Deol entered the game after Harmanpreet exited. She was a great help to Jemimah as the two combined for 57 runs. Deol was replaced in the 47th over by skipper Kaur, much to the delight of the Indian fans. The veteran batswoman reached her half-century in the 48th over.
India finished with a total of 228 runs in their allotted 50 overs. On a difficult batting pitch, this could be a very good score as the visitors look to regain series parity.
