On July 7, 2023, legendary India skipper MS Dhoni celebrated his 42nd birthday, as well wishes flooded in from all around the world. Dhoni is regarded as one of the most successful captains in international cricket, having guided India to new heights over a nine-year period. Moreover, As the entire world celebrated ‘Captain Cool’s’ special day, a beautiful fan-made homage went viral on social media.
The video depicts Dhoni as a little lad from Ranchi who aspired to play for India one day. He went through various ups and downs on his route to becoming India’s most successful limited-overs skipper. Pranjali Anaji Chavan, an artist, brought Dhoni’s tale to life through her artwork, which also spans his schooldays through his most recent IPL title in 2023.

Dhoni was appointed captain of India ahead of the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007. The Ranchi-born cricketer led a young team to victory and etched his mark in history. He captained India in the 2011 ODI World Cup, helping the country end a 28-year drought for the big championship. Dhoni batted brilliantly in the final against Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, scoring 91* (79).
In addition, two years later, in 2013, he led another young team to the Champions Trophy victory in England. Notably, India was undefeated in the competition, winning five games in a row. Dhoni just led Chennai Super Kings to a record-tying fifth title in the tournament’s history in IPL 2023. As a result, he and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma are the league’s most successful captains.
Following a great career on the field, there was widespread speculation about Dhoni’s retirement before of the IPL 2023. However, ‘Captain Cool’ has assured his supporters that he will return in the following season to repay them for their wonderful support during the season.
