Tamim Iqbal should not take hasty and emotional decision: Nazmul Hasan

Tamim Iqbal should not take hasty and emotional decision: Nazmul Hasan. Tamim Iqbal announced his surprise retirement on July 6 following Bangladesh’s loss to Afghanistan.

Nazmul Hasan, the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, expressed optimism that Tamim Iqbal would reconsider his decision to quit and play for the national team again. He also expressed remorse that Iqbal chose to quit his career so abruptly.

Tamim, who was set to skipper the squad at the ODI World Cup later this year in India. Drop out of the sport after Bangladesh’s loss in the first ODI of the current series against Afghanistan. The board now expects Tamim to return, despite the fact that he hasn’t “officially” retired. Nazmul told reporters after meeting with his board members in a major hotel for an emergency meeting.

“The reason we sat today is that Tamim suddenly announce in the media that hes retiring. ” It was really surprising for us because we had constant communication… Because hes the ODI captain, even three days ago we spoke with him regarding the team and even today I spoke with him. ” Nazmul quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“I had no idea this kind of decision could be made. I chat with him about his future, and he stated that he will play until the next Champions Trophy. After which he discuss World Cup captaincy with Jalal bhai (BCB cricket operation chairman), and I informed him that he is the captain. As the World Cup approaches, there have been no discussions about a captaincy change. For a player like him, when such things (announcement of premature retirement) occur, it is really regrettable. ” Nazmul remark.

Tamim is the ODI captain in my opinion, and he remains such to this day: Hasan

Tamim’s retirement revelation stun the world, as hes set to lead Bangladesh in the crucial ODI World Cup 2023, which is set to begin on October 5 in India. If the board members are unable to persuade Tamim Iqbal to return to international cricket, Bangladesh would struggle to fill the vacuum.

“I’ve been trying to contact him since the morning and later tried Nafees Iqbal. I couldn’t reach him.” A renowned player like him should not make rash and emotional decisions, and he is crucial to the squad,” Nazmul added.

Nazmul stated that he is still hopeful for a response from Tamim and will do all possible to bring the 34-year-old back to the national team before the World Cup.

“Because I sent a message, I’ll have to wait and see if he responds.” I’m hoping we can resolve this issue. It does not seem good, and it is even wrong, if one captain retires in the middle of the tournament. We want to say goodbye properly, but what can we do if they don’t want it? “To me, he is the ODI captain, and he will remain so,” he continued.
