England has named a 15-man squad for the third Test. Chris Woakes and Mark Wood both contributed. Moeen Ali has also returned to the squad after missing the second Test owing to injury.

Despite a scare with an injury, Ollie Pope has been named to England’s squad for the third Test of the upcoming Ashes series in 2023. England picked a 15-man squad for the third game, which will be play at Headingley beginning Thursday, July 6, soon after their defeat in the Lord’s Test on Sunday, July 2. Despite a shoulder ailment, Pope batted in both innings of the second Test.

The 25-year-old is allegedly schedule to get scans and may miss the forthcoming game if the results are not good. If he is ruled out, England will have to rely on Dan Lawrence, the only batter in the team capable of replacing Pope.

Moeen Ali kept out of the starting lineup for the second game due to an injury

England had added Rehan Ahmed to the squad ahead of the second Test, but the youngster has been drop for the third game, implying that Moeen Ali will be back. Apart from the four frontline seamers who played in the Lord’s Test, England has included Chris Woakes and Mark Wood in the team as seam-bowling options.

England has suffered a major blow in the Ashes 2023 series, having lost both the first and second Tests at Edgbaston. Both games were fiercely contest, and the visitors won on the penultimate day of the game. While Pat Cummins’ heroics helped Australia win in Birmingham, the bowlers worked together to help Australia take a 2-0 lead in the second game.

One more win ensures Australia keeps the Ashes, but the hosts will need to come back stronger to win the next three Tests.
