Andre Russell plays for Kolkata in his 100th IPL game: KKR vs GT. The Gujarat Titans chose to bowl first after winning the toss.
In game 39 of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are playing Gujarat Titans (GT) at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This is the opening game of the doubleheader on Saturday, April 29. After choosing to bat first, the hosts were invited by GT captain Hardik Pandya. After a 45-minute delay caused by rain, the game finally began.
One of the league’s most powerful hitters in recent memory is Andre Russell. The seasoned West Indian all-rounder will play for KKR against GT in his 100th IPL game. He will also be participating in his 100th IPL game on his 35th birthday.
Russell has been an essential all-rounder for the two-time IPL champions since 2014. He was crowned Player of the Tournament and IPL Super Striker in the 2019 season after setting an IPL season strike rate record of over 205. His all-around strength has helped KKR win the tournament many times throughout the years by helping them defeat a variety of opponents.
Rashid Khan will take the field in his 100th IPL game.
Rashid Khan, an all-around player from Afghanistan, played his 100th IPL game in the match between GT and KKR. The Afghan T20I captain made his IPL debut in 2017 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He finished the competition as the sixth-leading wicket-taker in his rookie season with 17 wickets from 14 matches.
The Gujarat Titans, who will participate in the IPL for the first time in 2022, recruited him and gave him the title of vice-captain. He and GT captured the league title in the organization’s inaugural campaign. In the most recent matchup versus KKR in the ongoing season, the 24-year-old took a hat-trick and finished with 3 for 37. For the IPL 2023, he is currently co-leading the Purple Cap List. He is also mentoring Gujarat Titans player Noor Ahmad, another Afghan talent.
