When the 16th season of the IPL 2023 began, Surya was the center of attention. The 32-year-old hasn’t been able to give his best during the competition, much to the disappointment of many fans. India’s lackluster performance in their multi-format series versus Australia led to Surya’s entry into the contest.
Only 16 runs have been added to his total in the three matches he has played in so far this IPL season, with his highest total coming against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the fifth game of the campaign. Regarding the same, Akram added that he was certain to witness Surya put on at least one incredible performance at the IPL 2023. He said the group needed to rally behind the Indian batter and reaffirm their faith in him.
“They need to put an arm around his shoulder and tell him: ‘you’re our match winner, we believe in you’, I’m sure he has the ability to win matches all on his own. This year, we will see him pull off at least one unbelievable performance which only he can do,”
