Saba Karim lauds Axar Patel for his all-round performance in the first T20I

Saba Karim lauds Axar Patel for his all-round performance in the first T20I. Axar Patel scored 31*(20) in the first innings before demonstrating his ability with the ball while defending the total.

India overcame Sri Lanka in the first Twenty20 international of the three-match series on Tuesday, January 3, at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in a nail-biting final ball fight. Axar Patel stole the show, smashing an unbeaten 31* off 20 deliveries and defending 13 runs in the game’s last over to push India’s first innings total to 162 runs.

Patel was not only outstanding with the bat, but he also helped India win the game by two runs on the game’s final ball. Saba Karim, a former Team India selector, lauded Axar’s skill in the last over, noting that he bowled smartly and tactically, which helped India win the nail-biting game.

“Hardik Pandya did not bowl the last over due to a strained hamstring. That’s why he had to hand it up to Axar Patel. It was an intimidating challenge for Axar. Defending 13 runs against a hitter capable of hitting home runs is never easy. With his full-length deliveries, he bowled extremely smartly, making it tough for the hitter to hit. “He was fairly excellent, save from that one short ball that went for a six,” Karim told India News Sports.

India rebounded from a rough start in their first innings against Sri Lanka to put up a dominant performance.

Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel collaborated to generate traction during the death overs. The final over of the second inning a test for Axar, who defend 13 runs. Despite being struck for a maximum and giving out a wide, he was able to keep the Islanders at bay and lead India to victory.

“At one point, it appeared that India might struggle to score 150 runs. Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel helped them reach a difficult total. “Their collaboration proved to be a critical component,” Karim stated of Axar’s batting ability.

The second Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and Sri Lanka will take place on Thursday, January 5, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.
